– “La Colombina” was the first hotel ever built in Trepalle thanks to the resourcefulness of Cherubina who, quite independently, fulfilled her dream to offer touristic accommodation in the area.
– One of the Trepalle meaning is “TRE PALE”, which refers to the three predominant mountains: Tort Valley, Foscagno and Vallaccia.
– From documents relating Trepalle, it is mentioned as “The alp of Sleeping”, which means “Valley of Silence”.
– Trepalle, with its 2069 m above sea level, is considered the highest town in Italy and the second highest in Europe, after Junf in Switzerland (2126 m asl).
– The village was permanently inhabited already back in 1160.
– In winter, Trepalle is also one of the coldest places in Italy. In February 1956, it reached 45 degrees below zero, that was the lowest temperature recorded in Italy, in the modern age.
– In the fifties, Trepalle had as a controversial parish priest with a strong personality, Don Alessandro Parenti, who greatly helped town’s inhabitants. Thanks to him they got the connection to the aqueduct and the electrical system.
